2011 US Army All-American Defensive Linemen with Coach Thurmond Moore (Right)

“Life provides wonderful opportunities.” – Thurmond Moore

Earlier this month Champion middle school teacher Thurmond Moore spent time in San Antonio, Texas, at the most prestigious high school all-star football game, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. For a few days ‘Mr.Moore,’ the teacher of social studies, current events and character building became ‘Coach Moore,’ the exclusive defensive lineman coach for the best football players in the nation.  Coach Moore was fortunate enough to gain the coaching position through an organization which he’s apart of called FBU (Football University), a group of former professional athletes now providing elite mentoring and instruction to athletes before they enter college.  He is proud to include the 2011 Army game as one of his life-changing experiences.

Sea Life Aquarium Field Trip

The 5th-8th Grade classes had the opportunity to visit the new Sea Life Aquarium at the Arizona Mills Mall. The Aquarium provides the opportunity for the students to see and even touch some of the animals that live in the Ocean. The animals ranged from Sea Horses to Sting Rays to a 7 foot Shark. As we walked through the Aquarium there are facts about each animal written on the wall next to the tank. Along with the facts there is a trail of quiz questions so that everyone can check their knowledge about different types of animals. This was a lot of fun and a great learning experience for the students and even the teachers!
