Stingers Get To Meet 2011 NFL Prospects

On Friday, January 28th, the boys and girls Stingers Varsity Basketball teams were granted an exclusive tour of the North Phoenix facility of Athletes’ Performance Institute to watch and learn about some of the best athletes around the world.

A few days later, some of those very athletes stopped by the Champion North Campus to meet and talk to a few different classes.  The players are all defensive lineman training in Phoenix to prepare for the 2011 NFL Draft in April.

One of them, JJ Watt, from the University of Wisconsin was the 2011 Lott Trophy Winner in NCAA Football.  The award is given annually to the Defensive IMPACT player who excels out on the playing field while exemplifying integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community, and tenacity.

Dear JV Sport Athletes, Families and Fans

REMINDER: There are no games this Saturday, the 25th of September.  Also, due to the overwhelming number of families that will be out of town the weekend of October 2nd (FALL BREAK), we will postpone those games and resume play on October 16th.  Both soccer and football teams will have double headers at Margaret T. Hance Park (1313 N. 2nd St) on October 16th.  Soccer will play at 8:00am and 10:00am.  Football will play at 9:00am and 11:00am.  Additional schedule modifications will be noted in the next ‘Buzz’ newsletter.

Achievement: Lorenzo has been the star of the stingers defense in the beginning of the season with his relentless effort everyday whether it’s in practice or games.  He is the team’s leading tackler and is tied for the lead in interceptions. His work ethic and passion is becoming infectious on his teammates.  I truly enjoy watching him play. –Coach Taylor

Achievement: Mark is an excellent worker in all of his middle school classes.  In writing class, Mark has shown great progress and achievement.  He consistently comes up with creative ideas for supporting arguments on his persuasive papers.  As a 7^th grader, Mark is conquering the challenging material and always eager to learn whatever is next.  He is just the type of leader that every teacher hopes will stand out.  -Ms. Habes

Hello Parents and Students!

I’m excited to get the 2010 Fall Sport Season started as we have a tremendous fall season organized.  With all of the new team additions, we have over 200 student-athletes participating in sport for this Fall Term.

We are now offering, at the Varsity level: Football, Volleyball, Cheer and a new Sports Media Team.  At the Junior Varsity level: soccer, flag football, cheer, Girls on the Run and Girls on the Track.

Our goal this year is to continue to IMPROVE our student-athletes each and EVERY DAY on the playing field and in the classrooms.  Our focus is to BUILD CHAMPIONS out of every one of our student-athletes while leaving a lasting imprint on their lives.

Free Saturday Football Clinic, June 19th

Join us this Saturday, June 19th at Hermoso Park (20th St/Southern Ave) for a FREE Football Clinic put on by the Stinger Coaching Staff.  The clinic runs from 9:00am to 11:00am and will be held on the soccer field.  New K-8th grade students are welcome as this will be a tremendous opportunity to meet the staff as well as new and current Stinger Varsity athletes.  See you there!

“DAY OF CHAMPIONS”

Honoring the Champion Schools Fall Sports Teams

Hello parents and students.  We will be having our “Day of Champions” on Friday, December 11th at 11am – 1pm.  This day will honor all sports teams including: Girls on the run, soccer, JV and Varsity football, volleyball and cheer for their tremendous efforts in the first term of the school year.  We’re asking that all student-athletes wear their team uniform on the day of the ceremony.  All sports will be taking team pictures on Friday.

In addition, we will have our Sports Dollar-Dog Fundraiser.

$1 Hot Dogs or $3 meal, instead of Pizza for lunch.
